Hello lovelies,

Hope you're all well and enjoying the last part of summer!

I haven't shown you a Ruby Wing polish in quite a while so I've prepared one. It's just one because there is so much going on in this polish that it deserves its own post. The polish I'm talking about is called Dolled Up and it's a multi-coloured glitter in peachy beige crelly base. I can see a mixture of gold, blue and red hexagonal glitter in two different sizes.

The formula of the polish is a bit tricky due to the high amount of glitter despite the crelly base being easy to apply. I've found that it's easier to dab the glitter on with a brush rather than trying to apply it in brush strokes. I've applied two thicker coats because the crelly base is a bit sheerer and three coats might feel like there is too thick layer on the nail. I've applied a coat of topcoat to smooth the polish out.

It's an interesting polish and once you get used to the glitter application it can be quite easy to achieve nice look. But still, be aware of the dense glitter and sheerer base.

Ruby Wing polishes are available at Ruby Wing website (US) but I couldn't find UK stocklist - do you know any? I've heard that Urban Outfitters sell selection of Ruby wing polishes too.

Hello lovelies,

It's finally a weekend again and I've set myself to catch up on some swatching, editing more video tutorials I made (yay to fulfilling my blog resolutions!) and writing some blog posts for the next few days. Phew, that's a lot of work just for two days!

Today I want to show you two Ruby Wings polishes that are UV sensitive and change colour once you go outside. The first one is Electric Firefly, a crazy bright yellow neon colour that changes into bright orange. The polish has a very subtle shimmer particles so it's not a flat out creme. I've applied two coat which went on nicely and I've also added topcoat. When I was testing the colour change I stepped into direct sunlight and the colour changed quite fast. It took a longer for the colour to go back to the neon yellow once I went back inside though. Overall it's a great polish for summer so I'll be sure to experiment a bit more with it.

The second polish I got here is called Doux and it is sheer pink duochrome glass flecks shifting to purple, blue and green shades. I've applied one coat over A England Camelot (black creme) because the polish is very sheer and I would need at least three thick coats for some reasonable coverage. I suspect the polish meant for layering anyway...

It applied well but it was a bit gritty because of the glass flecks. i needed thicker topcoat to smooth the nails out. As to the colour change - it is not as dramatic as with Electric Firefly. Doux changed from pinkish to blue-based purple but it wasn't very visible on the nails so look at the change in the bottle.
